How do you go about looking for energy homes?

There are now homes that are energy efficient and i was wondering has any one heard about these homes besides me and if they know about trying to go about finding them.

You can start by looking into the Energy Star label. It isn’t just for the appliances, but can be used for the whole house. Your Realtor should know if it is.

But there are other things that can make homes more energy efficient. For example solar orientation. Designed for their location. In order to be energy efficient, a home is Phoenix Arizona requires different design considerations than in Portland Maine. So the Energy Star program doesn’t answer all the questions in energy efficiency. A well designed "green" home may not meet all the requirements that EPA uses to classify a home as Energy Star, but could preform better. How do you go about looking for energy homes?

    I would first look and see if there’s a solar hot water panels.

    Next would be skylights on the roof.

    Double pane window glass is the real proof that this house can keep you cool or warm during changing weather.

    Your local Realtors can be a good source of this info.
